The Grove
This is THE favorite spot of almost every Ole Miss student. Especially on game days - this is where the magic happens. Ole Miss fans from all over the country come together to root for the University's football team. Families, students, as well as fraternities set up tents with food, drinks, Tv’s and even decorations prior to the game and with that, get ready for the game.
The Grove - that's where I got to know southern hospitality! Just walking by, you are invited to their tents and with that, get to try their food and drinks and just have a little chat before making your way to the stadium. As an international student it was one of the best experiences I had here at Ole Miss.
2. Vaught Hemingway stadium
My biggest “WOW” moment. Being from Germany, I had never really witnessed a football game. Walking into the stadium for the first time, made me speechless. That was the moment I knew I was part of the University of Mississippi. The team spirit of Ole Miss fans is indescribable. GO REBS!
3. The Library
The library (not to be mistaken with the library sports bar located downtown in Oxford) is, no doubt, my favorite building on campus. It is a great place to study in, as well as to catch a quite minute before or after class while enjoying a yummy drink from Starbucks. (also located in the library).
4. Student Union
The variety of food here in the United States is big! At the Union students are able to study or hang out with their friends while having the opportunity to grab something quick to eat and to drink. Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, McAllister’s or Starbucks are just a few of those options. Barnes and Nobles (also located in the union) offers a great way to get some Ole Miss merch, as well as the needed text books for your classes.
5. The Circle (with the Lyceum)
The Circle is the perfect spot to meet up with friends and enjoy the nice Mississippi weather. Catching a break on one of the many benches, students are able to enjoy an outside study session or a quiet minute while admiring the view of the Lyceum. Located in the middle of campus it represents the heart of Ole Miss. On game day it serves, just like the grove, as a place for college football fans to come together and “tailgate”. (Tailgating = Meet up of football fans before, during or after the game to root for their team).
The University of Mississippi has become one of my favorite places in the entire world ( a couple of years ago, it was even ranked "most beautiful" campus). It is not only due to the campus itself that I love this place so much. It is mostly the people that make Ole Miss to what it truly is. Once a Rebel, always a Rebel.
What are you even waiting for? Come and join IEP at the University of Mississippi and become part of the Ole Miss family.
